Unarmed Combat

Fighting Unarmed

All characters are capable of lashing out with available limbs and other appropriate body parts as an unarmed attack. The standard unarmed attack for a Medium or Small character deals 1d6 x2 bludgeoning damage (see Unarmed Attack in the [[Weapons Chapter]]).

Unarmed attacks against objects with at least 1 point of hardness deal 1 damage to the attacker on a successful hit.

 

Martial Arts

 

Basic Martial Arts [Combatant]

Benefit: Your natural weapon damage increase by one die size.



Knife-Hand Strike [Combatant]

Prerequisites: Basic Martial Arts

 

Benefit: You may choose to have your unarmed attacks be considered to be piercing weapons instead of bludgeoning for the purposes of damage reduction and immunities.



Barehanded Block [Combatant]

Prerequisites: Basic Martial Arts

 

Benefit: You gain a +1 shield bonus to AC and Reflex saves while fighting unarmed and wielding no shield, your unarmed strike gains the blocking keyword and is considered a shield.

 

At 9th level, this bonus increases to +2.

 

At 18th level, this bonus increases to +4.



Basic Throws [Combatant]

Prerequisites: Basic Martial Arts, Elusive Target

 

Benefit: Your unarmed strike gains the Trip keyword.

 

If an adjacent opponent misses you by 5 or less, you may immediately make a Trip attempt against them as a Reaction. If the Trip attempt succeeds, the target falls prone in an adjacent square of your choice instead of their square.





Basic Locks [Combatant]

Prerequisites: Basic Martial Arts, Greater Grapple

 

Benefit: Your unarmed strike gains the Grapple keyword.

 

Opponents you have grappled suffer a -1d4 penalty to attack rolls.

 

If an adjacent opponent misses you by 5 or less, you may immediately make a grab attempt against them as a Reaction.



Horse Stance [Battle Stance, Combatant]

Prerequisites: Basic Martial Arts

 

Benefit: While in this stance, you gain a bonus to CMB equal to your WIS modifier to Push or Reposition while unarmed and to CMD vs being Pushed or Repositioned.
