Hailene
Hailene were native to the same world as the dragons and saved from its destruction alongside them. When the Vishnari gods became distant, the hailene of the island of Illium took the abandonment to heart, turning their attentions to ancestor gods and science, eventually launching the devastating War of Ascension under the orders of their Emperor.
The atrocities undertaken during the war of tarred the entire species in history, painting them as arrogant villains at best, monsters at worst, not helped along by traditions and behaviors that appear haughty and aloof to outsiders.
Hailene are tall, winged humanoids with hinged ribs and hollow bones that make them appear out of proportion compared to other humanoids. Being the rare intelligent species capable of flight and the accompanying anatomy has led to their lives being markedly different from those of their peers.

Strained Hover
With great effort, a hailine can remain stationary in the air with shear wing power. They gain the Strained Hover ability:

Winged Breakfall
As long as they are able to open their wings, hailene reduce the distance of all falls by 1 + the higher of their STR, DEX or CON modifier for the purpose of calculating damage.
Hinged Ribs
Hailene gain a racial +2 bonus to checks and rolls to end the grappled condition.
Powerful Lungs
Hailene automatically gain the Enhanced Endurance feat.
Hailene Backgrounds
Skybound Soldier [Background, Hailene]
The hailene, being born to flight, prefer ranged weapons and polearms in battle.
Benefit: You gain the following benefits:

Hailene traditions in martial spellcraft is focused on sound and light.
Benefit: You gain the following benefits:

Hailene Exclusive Feats
Practiced Flier [Hailene]
Hailene culture has traditionally left training true skill at flying to military pursuits, but a determined civilian can learn to accomplish great feats.
Benefit: You gain a +5 species bonus to Fly checks and your Fly speed’s maneuverability becomes (average).
Attack on the Fly [Hailene]
Advanced hailene combat training allows for making strikes without losing airspeed or altitude.
Benefit: You gain the Attack on the Fly ability:
Attack on the Fly – Full Round Action – 3FP Fly up to twice your speed. At any point before, during or after this movement, you may make a melee or ranged Basic Strike against one target within reach or range. This movement sustains your flight until the end of your next turn. At 9th level, you may make up to two melee or ranged Basic Strikes against up to two targets within reach or range. At 18th level, you may make up to three melee or ranged Basic Strikes against up to three targets within reach or range. |
Cast on the Fly [Hailene]
The fables choirs of the hailene were known for their ability to rain mystic power down from on the wing.

Cast on the Fly – Full Round Action – 3FP Fly up to twice your speed. At any point before, during or after this movement, you may cast any spell with a casting time of a Standard Action or less. |
Soul of Pride [Hailene]
Traditional Hailene societies emphasize belief and assertion of one’s personal superiority. While this can often manifest as arrogance and pomposity, when properly applied, it can become confidence, conviction or sincerity.
Benefit: Choose Intimidation, Misdirection or Persuasion. Whenever you make a check for the chosen skill, roll twice and take the highest result.
Special: You may take this feat multiple times. Each time you do, choose a different skill from the options above.
