Heal (Wis)

The heal skill represents a character’s knowledge of how to diagnose and treat wounds and ailments by mundane means.

 

There are four special usages of the Heal skill:

 

Assess Malady

Any character may observe an injury or symptoms using the Heal skill. A DC 10 check performed on an adjacent, willing creature tells you how close to death a subject is due to their injuries (ie how many hit points they have).

 

This usage of Assess Malady is a Move Action.

 

A character Trained in Heal may attempt to identify a poison or disease afflicting another creature. The DC of such a Heal check is equal to the save DC of the affliction plus 5.

 

This use of the Heal skill takes at least one hour and may only be used once per long rest per character treated.

 

Field Dressing

A character may use the Heal skill to staunch bleeding and dress wounds. A successful Heal check on a creature with the bleeding condition with a DC equal to 10 plus the damage dealt per turn by the condition ends that condition.

 

This usage of Field Dressing is a Move Action.

 

A character may attempt a Heal check DC 15 on a dying creature. On a success, the target is no longer dying and is merely unconscious.

 

This usage of Field Dressing is a Standard Action.

 

A character making this check is Trained in Heal may attempt a Heal check DC 10 on a creature that has fewer than full hit points. On a success, the target regains their taxed value in hit points.

 

This usage of Field Dressing is a Move Action.

 

Treat Affliction

A character Trained in Heal may attempt to use poultices and other curatives from a healing kit to treat poison or disease. Make a Heal check with a DC of 10 + the affliction’s save DC. On a success, the target may immediately make a saving throw against that affliction. If the user fails by five or less, the affliction does not progress on the next failed save.

 

This use of the Heal skill may only be used once per period of time designated by the affliction’s save frequency per character treated.
